On April 17, 2024, the Democrat-led U.S. Senate voted to dismiss impeachment charges against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas without holding a trial. The following day, my father and I visited the first and only other presidential cabinet officer to be impeached: William Belknap. Ulysses S. Grant’s longtime war secretary is laid to rest in section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery.
