The mortal remains of football player and coach Sam Mills are buried at Monmouth Memorial Park in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. In August 2022, his widow Melanie stood on the stage erected in Tom Benson Stadium in Canton, Ohio, and declared of her husband, “There can be no better place for him to rest than in the Hall of Fame.” And still Mills’s legacy lives on, with his motivating quotation “keep pounding” serving as the mantra of the Carolina Panthers squad.
