Robert Mosbacher’s sibling — Emil “Bus” Mosbacher, Jr. — was also a sailor. The elder of the two brothers, Bus was the captain who successfully defended the United States’ reign as the America’s Cup champion in 1962 and 1967. This is an image of Bus Mosbacher’s plaque at the Herreshoff Marine Museum and America’s Cup Hall of Fame in Bristol, Rhode Island. He was among the 18 inductees that comprised the hall’s inaugural class of 1993. Also like Robert, Bus was a member of a Republican presidential administration: he worked as chief of protocol in the Department of State during the first three years of Richard Nixon’s presidency.
