How did Joseph Keaton receive his nickname of “Buster”? The actor explained in a 1958 interview, “I got that for falling down a flight of stairs when I was six months old. And I landed at the bottom of my father’s partner in the [vaudeville] show… And he says, ‘That’s a buster.’ And the old man says, ‘That’s a good name for him.’ So that’s the name I got. My father’s partner was Harry Houdini. […] Yeah, the handcuff king.”
